American Wierd War Walker
« on: August 08, 2009, 09:49:50 AM »
Inspired by all the grand weirdness here (thanks Agis and Pappa Midnight), here's my foray into the Wierd Wars. This Stuart-style walker hull and turret may look familiar, Brent at Company B had some prototypes he was willing to part with -- here's the first effort at finishing it off. I looked at using some legs from a Robogear walker from IMEX, but it just looked too darn big. I liked the way the GW 40K Sentinel legs looked, so I'ved used those. Not sure if I'll try and cover them or add Gearkrieg style wheels and such. I added some mecha-style hands scavenged from some old MageKnight golems. This particular Walker looks to be slated for the Pacific given it's Satan flamethrower turret, so it would be a jungle fighter. Should I add a chainsaw or big machete blade to it's right hand?? Should I try and tinker with the legs and give them plate covering (card plastic?) Thanks in advance for your comments.

I think I would cover up legs somewhat, as they seem a bit thin and naked compared to the rest of the model. :)

I'm not quite sold on the mage knight arm, but maybe that will change when I see it painted.

Since you're using sentinel bits, do you have the chainsaw that comes with it for the catachan version? That ought to work.

Have to agreem something about it just ain't right. Probably the arms and the spindly looking legs compared to the bulk of the chassis and body.

Sure you'll be able to sort though.

Cheers

Excellent!

I think that Stuart body really lends itself for being "Meched".
Personally I would go for thin "Manipulator Arms" like the ones on some of the GearKrieg stuff. You should be able to fashion some out of plastic rod. Like WK said it's difficult to tell without it being painted.
The legs are a little skinny and would make any easy weak spot to target by the enemy. Some armour plate would look good and would bulk them up a little.
I agree about the robo-gear legs, they are really big. I think looking at the mini next to it, those sentinel legs are spot on for height.

Look forward to seeing this one painted!
