Suitable Russian or American Walker.......What do you think?
« on: November 07, 2007, 05:32:26 PM »
Just had the AT43 Nakovalny walker from Rackham through the post today.
It's a lovely mini, but I can't decide if to use at as a Russian or American walker.
The paint job isn't bad for a "Pre-Paint" mini but could do with some weathering.
To my suprise it is also articulated so you can swivel the waste and weapons and THE CANOPY OPENS to reveal a detailed cockpit! I'm really pleased with it!!!!!

The interior cage of the cockpit is also movable so a pilot can be added without butchering the model. 8)

So what do think......Russian or American? :?:

The canopy reminds me of a US "Fritz" helmet.

The body and paint look Russian, the canopy German, the headlights American.

Er - not much help, was that ?  :lipps:  :(

Not that I know a ton about WWII stuff. I did look at a Sherman hull and turret as I remember there being some rounded parts. But also looking at the T-34 it has some rounded bits for the turret. The canopy reminds me of a German helmet which doesn't help.

Overall I think the walker looks a bit more high tech so I would side more with American over Russian.

I'm buying one to use as a Japanese model for a .45 Adventures/Amazing War Stories solo adventure based on Metal Gear.

For rizzle.

Could be either. If it was done in a green paint scheme it would look quite good as an American walker as well as a Soviet.

Bearing in mind the lend lease system in WWII the model could be either - It could be an American one loaned to the Soviets.

I agree that it does have characteristics which would fit into most armies, which is why I'm undecided about which force I should use it for.
I never thought of lend lease.................genius!!!!

Interestingly enough, the whole thing comes apart really easily ( Just clipped together) which makes it dead easy to re-paint.

The whole look of the model changes when you take the armoured cockpit or weapons off.

I think I will initially re-paint it green as suggested and see what it looks like before deciding on markings etc.

Geez Papa that's a really cool walker. I didn't even know they'd released that one. Perfect for Weird War. And sci-fi too.
