e-game
« on: 03 January 2021, 02:57:10 AM »
We're tring to set up a multi-player internet campaign game this Saturday, if anyone is interested; 17th-century. Drop me a line if you fancy being Tsar of All the Russias or Grand Hetman of the Ukraine....
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Hi,

Could you be a bit more specific please? Rules? Media (Zoom? Google Hangouts? etc) Times zones?

I'm not being funny but it would help people make up their minds :)

Fair enough. Starting c. 11:00 am, Bangkok time, which accommodates our UK and Australian contingent. Players will be required to join a Line group, and will be provided with a short set of campaign rules; when forces encounter they will fight on the table here in Thailand, where my wife and I shall be GMing. Knowledge of the tactical rules is not essential, though copies will be provided: Ten More Sons! Players will get constant photographs and verbal reports, but we'll be putting their instructions into effect ourselves.

We'll be using Sweden, Muscovy, Poland, the Ukraine, and Turkey, c. 1630. There's room for one more player, since the Cossacks aren't yet taken.

It's not a war i know very much about at all so as a result it is not something I would play; I fear that I would be more of an impediment to the enjoyment of others more than anything.

It does sound interesting, is there any way the game could be viewed without actually playing?

We have a FB group, "Bangkok Gamers", which usually gets a lot of photgraphs in the course of an e-battle. Join if you like, and be welcome.

I don't think I'll have time to join "live" but I'll certainly check through the pics in your FB group. I take it I will have to join the group to see the pics?

That campaign does sound interesting! I'll try to join your facebook group, in order to spectate. Should there be an opening for Tatars, I would be happy to participate.

I'm in Bangkok, so as you can guess I have to do all the figures myself! There are some Tartars involved, but they're auxilliaries in Muscovite, Turkish, and sometimes Cossack or Polish service; too few to include as a player. The lack of Persians and German Imperialists is another source of regret.

We could use a Turkish player. The one we were relying on yesterday failed to turn up, and Turkey needs leadership (since the Cossacks are invading).
