So, I was looking for some games to have around the house and I remembered a game I had perhaps 15 years ago.

-Large box, Napoleonic era cavalry charge on the front.

-Plastic fold-in-half board with squares of various heights on it (representing hills/valleys, etc.)

-Provided two armies, one with dark blue, one dark red - consisting of infantry, light infantry, cavalry and artillery - each base of the figure had a specific shape indicating its type (square, triangle, circle, star).

Very Stratego-esque play.  Players would record movements on a small sheet, move figures and would resolve combat according to a pecking order (i.e. infantry defeat cavalry in a forest square, but lose to them on a plains square).  The name of the game was in bold white on the box front with a very simple name, like COMBAT or BATTLE or something.  I can't for the life of me find it because "napoleonic board game" brings up a thousand results.

It was fun/simple/interesting.  Would like to see if it still exists!

I played that game with my brother years ago - you could choose from six different European nations couldn't you, each beginning in one of the six territories on the board. I shall Google about and rack my brains for the name of it.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Nope, not Campaign!  :?

The board for this game was vacu-formed plastic with hills/valleys pressed into it (everything was a square) and the game whilst Napoleonic-aimed (in fact I suspect the figures were cheap copies of old ESCI/ERTL 1/72 Napoleonics) there were no armies/countries it was just Blue vs. Red.  The box cover was a Napoleonic cavalry charge painting (one I can't locate on google).  Dark, the box sides were black I believe.  The game was new when I received it, so maybe 1999-2002 era.

I haven't tried the Board Game Geek thing, so I'll give that a whirl.

Dammit, I really thought it was Campaign. I really wanted it to be Campaign.

Campaign's a good game though. Don't want to change your mind?

Hah, well done Dolmot --- Field Command it is!

Hmmm, had no idea it was that old.  I wonder how long they sold it.  I may have to see about tracking a copy down.
