Painting to match 4ground pre-painted
« on: 03 July 2021, 11:49:48 AM »
Anyone got any tips on how to paint other MDF terrain to match the stuff made by 4ground?

I’ve got loads of their fantasy buildings and would like to paint up some other (non-4ground) buildings to match.

Surprised no one has response  to this...

I've been wondering the same thing. The best thought I've had so far is to spray components on the frame using craft spray paints from Hobbycraft. This won't completely guarantee a 'same as' finish, not least because  of the lack of panelling inserts. I don't have any examples yet, but having just completed the Stoic Arms I was planning to try a match using Sarissa or TTCombat.

The Foreground stuff has quite a solid layer of paint, something that is quite hard to achieve on MDF as its so absorbent.

Spraying on the frame sounds a good approach.

Best to start with automotive primer first.  Thin coat to start with and let that absorb then a second heavier coat to seal.  Then you can paint with whatever sprays and masking you want.
