Hello All,

Here are some reinforcements for my Donegal guards.  When I got the Commando from the ‘Game of Armored Combat’ box set I knew the mech had to be in the Steiner battalion.  I was terrified of adding any new units to that force because it was commissioned painted by Jimmy Livingston many years ago.  I feared trying to match his excellent paint job.  But Steiner needs new mini love too, so away I went.

Here we have the new box set Commando with a pair new sculpt Uziels from Ironwind metals.  The Uziel is also a vastly improved design from the original.

The group shot with the proper Tharkad mountains in the background.

A comparison between the original metal sculpt and the new plastic.  They are very close in overall dimensions.  But with all the new mechs none of them skipped leg day.  I was rather happy how close I got to the original unit theme.

Here is the Uziel comparison. Please note the cheek pieces added to the old cockpit were mods by me.

This is like comparing the two Ryan Reynolds in the ‘Free guy movie’.  😉

I hope you enjoy the paint work.

Thanks

I have painted up some air assets for the Steiner forces.

A pair of Sprint Vtols ready to zip around the battlefield and tag targets for the LRM boats.

Eisensturm Fighters...

While I only have one flight of fighters for the Guards, they are the biggest and meanest the Alliance can produce.  Wonderful sculpts.

A shot of the engines...

I am running an experiment and would love your feedback.  I acquired a small light box for pictures and please let me know if you prefer my old style with terrain base of the black background in the box.

As always Thank you and enjoy.

I like both, but I think the light-box photos with the dark background show the details of the paint job more clearly. Beautiful choice of models and great job painting them!

I'd say the light box images are more flattering to the paint jobs.

Nice to see how much better the newer sculpts are at reflecting the differences in tonnage between different mechs.
