Where to buy good scenery for BoB gaming?
« on: 24 September 2009, 03:24:23 PM »
After some great feedback regarding rules for BoB gaming ive now invested in minis and lots of books (including Triumph & Tragedy which i cant wait to try out) I now need to know where you guys get all the excellent terrain you fight over?

I understand alot is scratchbuilt but are there any specific places that sell apropriate building and accessories?

Hovels do some nice Russian wooden houses and a church , Pegasus (?) do some East European houses as well . Think its Pegasus who do some ready painted sandbag walls and wooden fencing which I use . For Chinese type buildings Curtsey Miniatures do some in their Ancient Chinese range .

Mosstrooper,
Curtsey Miniatures do not show up with a Google search, just articles talking about them.  Do they have a webpage or some other contact? Thanks.

There are several people on eBay regularly selling large handmade complexes of adobe type forts, palaces etc - The Colonial Steamboat Company is one, but there are others.

I've seen some of these structures featuring in Ignatieff's superb BoB battle reports and pics, so I'd certainly be thinking about one or two of those if I was going to start gaming this genre.

I have a load of the Monolith adobes for the NW Frontier, and they are pretty good.

I guess that White Knight would tell you to go to the closest Pet Shop…  ::)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

I looked at Monolith and i really like them but im not sure if Monolith are still trading or reliable enough. I looked on the miniature page and there were lots of mixed reviews concerning the service.

Scour the net and wargames shows and you'll find what you want.  Mine are a mixture of ebay discoveries, the odd internet purchase (never had a problem with Monolith myself) and completely over-the-top commissions for those special one-offs.  Mind you I've been doing it for seven years now.  It really is a sickness that I cannot get over  ;)

For middle eastern adobe-type structures, I can recommend Art of War Terrain. They are hand made on 1 foot tiles, and each one is different. The roofs all lift out, and they even put hinges on the doors. And well priced, about $30 a tile, depending on the complexity of the buildings. Being a garage operation though, you have to grab their stuff when it goes up on e-bay. you can find them at www.artofwarterrain.com. Their front page has a great picture of them.
