Printing PDF to Book
« on: 30 July 2024, 07:21:32 PM »
I have been collecting quite a few PDF rule sets, thanks to my addiction to browsing Wargame Vault.  As much as I like the digital rules, I like having a hard copy for some of the more heavily used ones, but I find there isn't always a print-on-demand option, especially for some smaller publications.

What PDF to Book services do you recommend for personal use?
I haven't check in with local print-shops, but thought that might be an option, but I'm sure there is plenty online.
I'm would like to find one that isn't too expensive, yet reliably delivers a good product. And ease of submission of PDF files would be ideal.

Shipping would be to US.

Thanks!

There was a discussion about this quite recently - but the related topics isn’t showing it.

There are several online options, all are simple to use - so probably see which is the best value for the options you want. I went for clear plastic covers and comb binding.

I use Doxdirect.com, which has always been reliable except for my last order, which came with the last 30-odd pages missing. This was corrected when I complained though I initially had some difficulty making myself understood.

There’s a high degree of customisation available with regard to paper quality and binding. Postage is free on orders of £10 + value within the UK or £20 + worldwide. I assume other online services are similar but this is the only one I’ve used.

I have had a great experience with Inky Little Fingers: https://www.inkylittlefingers.co.uk/

It's also worth checking out university-affiliated print shops, since they're still in the business of single-run bindings for their students.

If you’re in the U.S., Staples or a similar shop like Kinko’s would work.

No need to make it harder than it should be.

Kinkos and Staples will do it but I've found Vistaprint and Canva are less expensive. At least for multiple copies.

Thanks for the replies!

There are definitely a few suggestions for places I haven't heard of that I'll have to check out!

I've used a local print shop to print a few of mine. Price was fair, service was excellent.
