28mm figures with 20mm buildings

As many might have seen the release of 02 Hundred Hours from Grey for Now Games which is 28mm and highly character driven, I was wondering if 28mm figures could work with 20mm buildings. I'm thinking of the Sarissa Precision buildings in particular. I don't think you would get the same narrative feel of the game buy substituting in 20mm figures due to the character to card aspect. I'm too heavily invested in 20mm to buy all new building of their 28mm version just to play 02 Hundred Hours hence the question.

Alternatively we can hope for someone to sculpt these figures in 20mm not sure about copy write implications but Grey For Now Games are not planing a 20mm range so possibly an opportunity for an 20mm sculpture out there.

There's a massive scale difference, but there are lots of 20mm minis which you could simply use instead.

Anything is possible if you really want to do it that way.
You would have to enlarge doorways so it looks at least feasible a figure could get through one, and extend/raise windows so that they come to head height not groin height.
You will also need to accept figures will be able to look over walls or the roof of sheds and other small buildings.

Personally I think the 20mm sculpts from AB, Liberation, Simons Soldiers or Elheim are far better looking human figures than the standard 28mm offerings anyway and WW2 elite forces are not in short supply.

Stick to 20mm

I'm another on for scale compression.
Appart from rescaling doorways ( it literally takes seconds. )
Your main issue is built in detail such as brick work. As this really shows up your rescaling. Windows aren't an issue. As they vary in size in real life .So unless the window is exceptionally small on the HO building your simply not going  to notice.

I've not actually had much time for the forum of late. But over on my Workbench thread .I'd just started converting a undersized row of HO terraced houses into two up two down. Terraced houses in 28mm.
I've actually got a little spare time this evening so I'm going to move this project along a little. ( and update my Workbench thread.)

This is a very old picture of my Homefront project but it dies nicely illustrate how easy it is to use scale compression. As the board has everything from scratch build -Sarrisa- N guage- Metcalfe- Foxtrot,and GW products on it.

I use 28mm figs with HO railway buildings for large battles. Their smaller footprint matters more than the size of doors and windows.

I also use big HO buildings for skirmish games where the size and height of the building works. The Italeri italian houses/church (also sold by warlord) are a good example of this but Faller industrial buildings are also a good match for gangster games. They're also a better model than many available 28mm kits and can be bought cheaply on eBay.

If you need your figures to fit into the building the smaller sale will be noticeable, but if they are "scenery" rather than "terrain" you'll probably be ok.

The scenery vs terrain test is a good one. 28mm figures maneuvering around 20mm houses can look ok.  28mm figures moving into 20mm  houses will be off.

As others have said, industrial buildings can be an exception. Here's a 1/87 building I converted for 28mm use.

I think one big "issue" when it comes to scale, is that wargaming buildings are inherently tiny compared to what a real-world structure would be - as a necessity.  It allows you more buildings on the table, easier to store, cheaper, etc.

When you get to model railroad buildings you may have more realistic scaled buildings...which in turn leads them to being more suitable for "scaling up", etc.
