Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

That may be the best painting I've ever seen.

Thanks guys, lotta love for them. I'm planning to get in some glider pilots as well (usually NCO's with Stens who presumably attached themselves to the units they were delivering) since I've got a lot of the old Bolt Action guys with smg's left. The good thing about the Empress Miniatures KS Paul did, is that you get more rifles and dudes in helmets, whereas the old Bolt Action ones were about 50/50 smg's and rifles, 50/50 berets and helmets, which might look nice on a shelf or table, but is a little tricky if you're trying to be more historically accurate.

At Arnhem (as most other actions) the GPs generally were to  RV and then acted as discrete units, sometimes as a reserve (such as the GPs guarding the area of the tennis courts), but if it all went wrong, they’d be all over the place leading or otherwise being attached to a myriad of units (for example acting as gunners)…. Basically they had a mixed skill set that wasn’t to be expended lightly.
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

You know, now you say it, that does ring a bell, about them guarding the RV.

So I guess what I was trying to say but not very well, was that the GPs participated as a formed up section after RV (though they didn’t all have STENS but rifles, sniper rifles, Brens too), as attachments to other units either leading or as add ons, or just transiting in singles, pairs or other combinations.  :D

Glider pilot at Arnhem got bunged a PIAT, him and his mate used it to great effect, before legging it back over the Rhine. They both went back again on 'Varsity', being bunged No.4 Mk. I (T) Sniper Rifles. They used them to great effect too.
