As you say, the Sherpa was the van of (very poor) choice for the Forces.  Transits seem to have been a 2000s thing.

Could've been worse, prior to being given a box-body Sherpa, my old man's first van in the GPO was the Commer 15cwt. He despised that thing (and spent many long hours trying to ensure its demise), so I felt obliged to make him a little Christmas vignette of his trusty steed...
