Today we started the next Feature Pack. A fantasy based one this time!
We enter the
Valley of DreadChapter 1 -
Tunnels and TrapsAccompanied by a group of the Baron’s guards, a bold group of adventurers enter the Valley of Dread, their sights set on rescuing Sir James and his soldiers. The sounds of cackling and skittering echo around the ravine walls as the heroes enter the cave that Sir James never
returned from.
But the moment the adventurer are inside, the cave floor slides away beneath them, tumbling them into the darkness! Who has sprung this monstrous ambush?!The casts look like this:
L-R the heroic cast is Sterkur the Mighty, Stafa the Old, Abelos, a Guard Sergeant and Guards
L-R the villains cast is Kobold Boss, Kobolds, Tunnel Spiders, Corpse Scavengers and a Troll
The board's set up with the villains surrounds our heroes.
Except for Abelos, the heroes start knocked down. The Corpse Scavengers are chosen to gain the Sneaky ability due to the Kobold Boss' effects. They can set up closer and can't be attacked in the first turn.
The heroes gain the initiative and immediately use an artefact that allows Sterkur to get into base contact with the Kobold Boss and start hammering him down.
Abelos starts firing arrows into the Troll, while the Trilogy card this turned allowed extras to make a free movement, allowing the guards to block the villains from getting to the more fragile heroes.
Stafa then casts a fireball on the troll. Failing it's On Fire test, it loses another health and is moved further away, meaning it wont be able to charge into the heroes so easily.
The villains start well, using one of their artefacts on Sterkur, stunning him. he then suffers a wound but is able to take an Injury Card for it instead. Meanwhile a Guard is taken out by one of the Tunnel Spiders. Sadly the villains aren't able to do much more and the Troll fails to regenerate it's lost health. But it's no longer on fire!
Sadly for the Troll, Abelos fires a true arrow and takes him out, eliminating a big threat!
The Guards start getting to work down at the bottom of the cavern.
One of the Corpse Scavengers suffers the same fate of the Troll and catches a fire ball too.
The villains deceive to use their strength of numbers, mobbing down Sterkur, but fail to take him down while Abelos dodges a bombardment of Kobold sling shots.
Suddenly, a strange Hermit wanders into the battle.
His babbling causes the already distracted Kobold to gain another distracted status. Doubling up reduces his health and removes him from the game.
Sterkur then unleashes his barbaric strength, using his star quality to attack everyone in base contact, removing all but one Kobold.
Stafa then uses an artefact to Dominate a Corpse Scavenger with plans of having attack the other nearby Corpse Scavenger next turn.
But he's removed by a guard before that happens!
With no Star on the table and with such heavy casualties, the villains are axed. The one Tunnel Spider who tried to stay in the game was removed shortly after although. With just a dominated Corpse Scavenger left on the board, the heroes were victories with a huge 6-0 win!
They'll go into Chapter 2 with a free Mirror Shield which suitably was the one artefact they held but didn't use this chapter. Feels rather fitting!
