Travails in preparing 1 pack of 15 mm, Forged in Battle, Illyrian cavalry

I discovered:

- Lots of thin flash on riders, especially round the javelin.
- One javelin miscast.
- One horse had rear legs bent inwards and fused together.
- Two horses had front legs crossed.
- One of the above lost its tail during clean up.
- Most horses had metal from torn mould on the inside of left rear leg.
- All horses weren't stable on bases and had to be bent straight.
- All horses had sharp edges to tail that needed rounding to ensure paint adhesion.
- All riders wouldn't fit on horses and needed trimming and filing.

Apart from lots of cleaning and filing , I had 1 of 13 riders and 3 of 12 horses to repair. I ended up:

- Making a new javelin (1 mm brass rod), cutting away the old and carving a slot in the residual hand before supergluing it into place.
- "Recreating" the gap between the fused rear legs.  Much "sawing" involved and many broken blades. Bending legs back to something like straight.
- Finding a new horse tail (spares box), cutting it off the donor, before drilling both the tail and horse's rear to take some brass rod.  Then pinning and gluing everything in place.
- Cutting one crossed and bent legs off the base from two horses before bending them straight.
- Finally, I broke out the green stuff to fill the gaps around the transplanted tail and to create some groundwork between the base and the straightened legs.

Most... modern miniatures are better.

That sounds like a bad batch. The only FiB minis I have are some Sassanids and I don't recall having any major problems with them.

Maybe that range is very popular? I have their Arthurians, and while not perfect, are pretty darn clean.
