Fallschirmjager 28mm update 8 April
« on: 15 March 2024, 08:15:33 AM »
Painting up some warlord metal and plastic 28mm Fallschirmjager figures, not that impressed really with the sculpts, the metals are ok, but the plastics are not great. I am thinking about going back over them and adding the rain splashes, as after looking at them they do not look 100% to me.

Cheers
Matt

Looking good to my eyes! 8)

When I did my Fallschirmjäger, I forewent the raindrops altogether, both because I needed to finish them quickly and also because I found that they would not show up from any distance further than 30cm away.

You'll need to make them representative anyway, because no brush tip is small enough to paint them at the required scale. Also; there'd be so many, they'd completely obscure the pattern underneath. Just saying... ;)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I agree with your assessment, I wish Warlord would re make the Fallschirmjager sprue like they did with the US infantry sprue.

Agreed, they look good as they are.

The rain splashes are a bit like the East German Strichtarn, they basically disappear at more than a few feet away. Even if you are holding a 28mm figure up at arms length, they are still about 70 feet away in real life.

The rest of the infantry are now complete, just support elements to go.

Pretty good job I’d say, not convinced you need the lines.

Great stuff. I'm working on German paras right now as well. May I ask what color your using for the panzerfausts and panzershrecks?

German camo beige I think? I will get the Vallejo number when I get back from my champagne region holiday wine purchasing tour on the weekend.
