Geek Villain 15 mm Vietnam range compatibility
« on: July 29, 2024, 07:19:34 PM »
How compatible are Geek Villain Vietnam figures with other ranges of 15 mm Vietnam miniatures?

And best site for side-by-side comparisons of the various 15 mm ranges?

Thanks!

I'd never heard of the Geek Villain 15mm Vietnam before so I just had a look.
Those are some odd proportions. The legs!? They need to be a bit longer to be in proportion to the body.
And being 3D printed those gun barrels are just waiting to snap off. All that and paying £6 for 7 models.
No. Just no.
How they compare next to other 15mm Vietnam ranges I have no idea. They don't look like they'd fit in with the Peter Pig or Team Yankee ones, both of which mix well with each other, are better proportioned, and cheaper.
Each to their own though.

Agree that the Geek Villain proportions are a bit odd and expensive.  Mostly was interested in the colonel and the surfers, maybe a few other items.

Depends on if I decide to unload my 10 mm Vietnam and switch to 15 mm.  The Pendraken 10 mm, while nice and versatile, just isn't getting my juices going.  So, exploring the 15 mm Vietnam options.  Any opinions on Flashpoint out of Australia and what they are compatible with (other ranges)?

Again, thanks.

I don't know what the Flashpoint Miniatures scale best with, 15mm isn't really my thing these days but I have seen the figures. Fairly crude sculpts, spindly with massively oversized weapons.  I'd guess the figures would go at the ankles before the weapons' barrels bent. If they were 6mm figures I'd give them a grudging pass mark. None too historically accurate either.

On the whole the vehicles are much better although, ironically, the 'Australian' M113 is awful and sod all like the T50 turreted item.  The Battlefront version is the pretty much same thing IIRC, at least they are both wrong on terms of the turret, hatch and rear hull ventilators. The latter two could be remedied with plasticcard and a file. At least they do provide the option of the M74C turret which was the pronciple version from late 1966 to late 1968/69.

I'm yet to see a 15mm Vietnam range which I'd spend any money on. YMMV of course.
