Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
« on: 21 June 2024, 12:58:32 PM »
I walked into firestorm the other day, promising myself I wouldn't buy anything, and then these two beauties where on a promo bench...Dangit.
Hope y'all like em. I painted them to match the movie but gave Sundance brown gun handles. I really enjoyed painting these, from the dusty clothes to the stubble. Absolute joy to paint. Also I made a little adobe background scene for the hardcore fans. Not much, I'm not very skilled in that department. But hey, it's all a bit of fun.

I like them, nice work.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I showed it to my partner this week and she said it's her new favorite western. It's a really nice movie.

For what it's worth the "Who are those guys?"  on their trail included Indian tracked Lord Baltimore, and Joe LeFors.  The folks at  Old West Magazine were asked and their sources have never been able to find any evidence that Lord Baltimore was anything other than a figment of the imagination of the director of the film.

Joe Lefors was an actual lawman who was involved in the posse going after the Hole in the Wall Gang which was Butch Cassidy's and Harry Longbaugh's (Sundance Kid) outfit.  Also got the "confession" of Tom Horn that resulted in his being hung.

His press might be better than his actual performance
Quote
Famed lawman and Pinkerton Agent Charlie Siringo worked heavily on that case, and would years later come into contact with LeFors in the process of working other cases, and would later indicate that Lefors was incompetent, at best, as a lawman.

Siringo seems to have had a better reputation.  https://www.legendsofamerica.com/we-charlessiringo/

Lovely work; oddly I picked up the same figures yesterday, just “because” at Devizes. Needless to say I’m now mildly curious about Federales types - I know Pulp do a pack and Gringos have a very limited range. Is there anything else out there with that Mexican/Bolivian militarised police look? There doesn’t seem to much in the way of Rurales either.

I know his Zorro range is a bit off the mark time wise but I reckon @malamute would be the person to ask. He's old hat on this forum. https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=86

@Harry von Fleischman - would Westwind's 'East European Politzi' work for a more urban police force? I know that some of the South American police wore a similar style of shako at about that period?
