6mm Weird World War 2 help
« on: 21 February 2025, 07:10:49 PM »
Would like to try WWW2 in 6mm. What is out there or what could I use to represent the war in 6mm?

Thanks

What do you mean by "weird"?  There are several different approaches, although with limited crossover possibilities:

1945+ Continuation war (all the paper panzers, jets, walkers/mechs, hi tech weaponry etc)
Cthulhu, Zombies, Ark of the Covenant, magic and super science.
Traditional Golden Age comics and Superheroes.

In 6mm the first is far and away the simplest to do as most kit can be sourced from WW2 and Cold War microtank ranges and Battletech or original release GW epic pieces.
The second would use the same WW2 microarmour kit with suitable monsters from Fantasy ranges, boardgame pieces etc (loads of options up to 15mm scale figures would be OK)
The last one probably the most difficult as 6mm is not really suited to individual models so identifying characters would be hard.

GHQ has a 1947 line.  For Mecha you can use some of the BattleTech miniatures.

I am thinking walkers, new tech, zombies ect. Also 1946 or later new tanks and weapons.

GHQ has all that except the walkers. Even zombies!

Also, Hydra Miniatures https://hydraminiatures.com/
have an awesome range of spaceships that are 6mm in scale - I once did a GHQ/UFO early 1950s camp project.

The Monopoly pieces from Simpsons version has the twin aliens from Treehouse of Horror, and they’re perfect scale as well. They’re pretty easy to find, from what I remember.

Yes, GHQ will give you pretty much anything you need for Continuation War type WWW2. Lovely models too. Heroics/Ros and Raiden (via Pendraken) are much cheaper for aircraft.

Heavy weapons, hard suits and mecha can be sourced from from Battletech, GW Epic and Ground Zero Games (GZG) by picking the less hi-tech sci-fi models.

Battletech is 6mm.

So Catalyst Game Labs. Also Iron Wind Metals for vintage looking pewter models.

Thanks,

I went to the catalyst games sites and they didn't have anything for sale that I could see.
I will try Iron Winds.
