Options for gangster games?
« on: March 21, 2025, 11:42:20 AM »
I have so far used One-Hour Skirmish Wargames (OHSW) for gangster games but I would like some more specialized rules for this genre. Is The Chicago Way the best ruleset or are there other options? Grateful for any insights and comments!

If I may be so bold, my own rules for gang warfare, Mean Streets: War in Gang-infested Cities, has rules for "Peaky Blinders" type action. Although written for a romanticized look at street gangs (aka "The Warriors"), there are rules for a variety of firearms.

They're $20 print, $10 PDF, so an easy price point to take a look and maybe use as inspiration for your own ideas. Because us wargamers have never bought a set of rules we thought we might no use, right?  :D  lol

Thanks Mike, they look fun but I am more after the 1920s vibe. The Chicago Way look great for that purpose but I was just curious if there are other similar well developed systems for that period. I will get back to you once I get bitten by the Warriors bug again  ;)

I like Mad Dogs with Guns by Howard Whitehouse.  Now published by Osprey (though I use the original edition).

I agree with Mad Dogs with guns. I especially like their combat rules.

Mean Streets: War in Gang-infested Cities, has rules for "Peaky Blinders" type action.

And they include some photos of my miniatures, so they must be okay.   ::)
