1860s French RML naval guns in 28mm?
« on: July 08, 2025, 03:06:14 PM »
Hello all,

I have a rather snazzy 1/54th scale kit of an ironclad that I am about to embark on building, for which I do not have any guns. More specifically, this is the Sphinx/Staerkodder/Stonewall/Koutetsu/Azuma, the Danish/French/Confederate/Spanish/American/Japanese warship famous for never ending up with its intended buyers (not for very long, anyway). Apparently, it was armed with a 10-inch, 300-pounder in the bow, and two 6.4-inch, 70-pounder guns in a pseudo-turret aft of the funnel, plus a Gatling gun on the deck. I've got a Gatling, but where might I find some RML guns that are close enough to what might come out of a French foundry ca. 1863?

Cheers! That 9" Dahlgren might work for the bow but I might still need to cast about for the turret guns.

Seems like there's some more detailed images with the guns:

Any ideas for where to find similar?
