So I'm just getting into Baron's War. After reading through the rulebook & FAQ several times I think I've finally got (most) of the basics figures out, but I still have several questions about some of the peripheral stuff:
1. What happens if a group of overcharging knights runs into terrain that's impassable to them? The rules address running off the table or into other foes but not impassable terrain.
2. Is the move & fire benefit of "Every Bloody Sunday" still restricted to 3" or can they move a full move? (The rule just says 'move & shoot')
3. Does a commander's "Live by the sword" stack with his groups "Live by the Sword"? i.e. does he re-roll his attack die on a miss while the group also gets to re-roll one of theirs?
4. The "Brace" rule mentions cavalry making "follow-up moves". Is this just referring to Overcharges? I couldn't find anything about 'follow-up moves' anywhere else in the rules.
There are a couple rules that are pretty straightforward in application but I confess I don't understand/like the reasoning behind them:
-"Shocked" seems like a less severe morale result than "broken" yet the triggers that cause it seem to be more severe than the ones that cause "broken". I spent a while wrestling with how "Shocked" was supposed to work & I think this is what was throwing me off.
- Crossbow group A fires at crossbow group B, which then counter attacks. Because of the way "Slow" is written group A takes hits FIRST and then their fire against B is resolved. (You run into a similar situation when one "slow" group fights another in melee.) This seems pretty timey-wimey. If feels like 'Slow' should cancel itself out when two slow groups fight.
