On the other hand, I apologize if this derails the topic. Please feel free to ignore.

Hmmm…..something odd is going on with Warlord and different currencies. For instance, the ECW Montrose box set is £42. That converts to 57.17 USD, at today’s conversion rates. But when I ask Warlord to use US currency on their website, the Montrose box is now 67.00 USD.

That’s quite the discrepancy. I may be missing something and would welcome having this explained.

I can confirm I have been paying well above the literal conversion rates whenever purchasing direct through Warlord, as I even recall checking out of curiosity at least once or twice and noticing the discrepancy. I just chalked it up to a business decision on their end. That being said, they do offer free shipping on generously small orders to the states, so I imagine this is quite a hefty operating expense.
But truthfully, the reason may be that VAT (or different tax) is built into the USD price, and not deducted as it should be. I get charged no additional thievery fees when purchasing from them, so I can only assume it is baked into the price.

Conversely, all sellers who remove VAT for states customers as well as offer free shipping make me feel like I am robbing someone.

It does seem to be true, something to consider - here is a helpful tip for people in the States (likely similar for Canada with less options)...shoot for 20-30% off MSRP. 15% being standard, but frequently I have been getting 30%+ from an extremely reliable retailer. Amazon also has killer deals from time to time...

President Trump's tariffs maybe? I guess with the current state of flux manufacturers have to cover all their bases.

I have orders from last year that match this trend, for what its worth. But I suspect there are a multitude of contributing factors, though this seems specific to WLG in my personal experience. The price of metal alloys over the last four still astonishes me even more, Foundry claiming their costs had increased by 80%, and another I can't remember claiming the price at the time was up 400%. Could be a combination of absorbing that and collecting the tax? At any rate, I strongly advise against direct orders through WLG unless its for an exclusive item, if saving money is a concern, and certainly never without a sale.

But I’m in Canada and ordering from the UK.

The discrepancy occurs within the Warlord website. Switching from British Pounds to USD suddenly raises the prices beyond the normal conversion rates. And VAT is always removed ahead of time.

I found that too, as a Canadian when ordering from Warlord - the prices in USD definitely didn’t line up with UKP and postage wasn’t great. And they didn’t let me buy from the UK branch. It felt arbitrary and like I was being exploited, so I don’t order from them. Actually Modiphius Games did something similar, so I don’t order direct from them either - it was way less expensive to order their rule books from Northstar.  o_o

It's been going on for several years - Warlord charges all foreign customers extra to cover increased customs and import charges (which, like metal costs, have also been going nuts) - EU customers are being hit as well. I don't know exactly why or what method they're using to determine these extra charges, but they are adding them. Btw - the overseas customers that have ordered from Warlord - do you get free figures included sometimes?

No free figures recently. I did when I bought rule book releases but those were part of the offer rather than a surprise. The most recent one of those I bought was Warlords of Erehwon, whenever that was released…

For US direct, each standard shipping has been coming in with a free plastic sprue for the past two years... they haven't been sending any of the previous Soldiers of Fortune for at least that long.

I have never yet received one that is not a 28mm frame, which means I have to find homes for them since I only go to Warlord for their smaller scales, first naval, now the epics.  I do not know if they track what customers are sent, but looking back I seem to have had an even rotation of eras for the included sprues going between Bolt Action, Black Powder, and Ancients.
If my wife asks, I only spent half as much as I wanted to...
