Advice on 28mm Egyptian figures, please.
« on: 23 May 2025, 11:17:39 AM »
I’m looking for 28mm New Kindom Egyptian figures.
Preferably Marines in armour with bow, maybe javelins?

To me it’s looking like the old Perry models from Foundry?
Still nice, but small’ish and expensive.

I’ll need around 50 models.

Ideas?

I do my ancient gaming in 2mm/6mm these days but I know that Warlord and CP Models both do 28mm NKE miniatures. Warlord have spear armed Marines/ Guardsmen.
There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

My current army is mostly CP models, nice but quirky looking.

Warlord are more expensive than Foundry (never thought I’d say that!).
Possibly a little smaller than Foundry too.

Tim, the Egyptian ranges I am aware of are Foundry ( £2 per figure), Warlord/ ex "Cutting Edge" ( £1.75+ perfigure), CP ( £2 per figure), Northstar ( £1.75 per figure), Newline ( £1.20 per figure) and Red Copper £1.31 per figure. I don't like the Newline or CP ranges, and the Northstar range is very small.

The Red Copper range includes archers and khepesh armed troops, but annoyingly no spear armed Egyptians, albeit in extremis their Nubians could pass muster with a paint job.

I would love to buy a Foundry army but would need a 2nd mortgage to buy all the chariots needed!

Cheers guys.
Looks like I know all the available options, which is a shame.

The Warlord Marines are £2.25 a model, and not as nice as Foundry.

Northstar are very nice, the best of the ones mentioned above, but as you say pathetic as an actual range.
I do own some Northstar.

Looks like Foundry is my choice.

Hopefully we’ll see a plastic range at some point.

There is another option if you are brave enough to risk it. Black tree design have a reasonable range of NKE figures.

Wip games do units of 20 for £25! Still not especially cheap but much better than Foundry. There are only two sculpts for the rank and file though, don't know how much of an issue that'll be.

For mine I'm going to use metal (Lucid Eye) Ziggurat and 3D resin Red Copper. Here's a quick snap if it helps.

I’m in Canada and the Warlord site has 8 figures for $29 USD and 4 figures for $14.50 USD. That comes to $3.625 per figure. At today’s conversion that is 2.66 GBP.

If my math is correct, Warlord is quite a bit more expensive than the 2.00 GBP that a Foundry figure costs me.

Bowman, I've just looked at the UK Warlord site and the price I mentioned was for a 24 figure unit. Packs of 8 are more expensive at nearly £2.20 per figure.

I placed a small order with BTD nearly 2 weeks ago just to see if they are "working"... no update yet - fingers crossed.

Hmmm…..something odd is going on with Warlord and different currencies. For instance, the ECW Montrose box set is £42. That converts to 57.17 USD, at today’s conversion rates. But when I ask Warlord to use US currency on their website, the Montrose box is now 67.00 USD.

That’s quite the discrepancy. I may be missing something and would welcome having this explained.
