The World Turned Upside Down - HM 46th Foot

The latest work on my AWI project sees the addition of the 46th 'South Devonshire' Foot Regiment to the collection and in my recent post I take a look at the formation and history of the regiment before and during its participation in the American War of Independence.



Raised as John Price's Regiment of Foot in 1741, they would get a severe introduction to the harsh realities of warfare at the Battle of Prestonpans four years later that no doubt tempered the steel of the regiment that developed and that contributed it's light company to the decisive attack at Paoli Tavern in 1777.
