Sounds fun -- and perfect timing on your post. I just finished painting my crew for my first game this morning. Look for a post introducing the characters and hopefully making a minimum of mistakes...  lol

Campaign Turn 5

With the captain restricted to the sick bay and his fellow bounty hunter having vanished, the young Roomt found himself preparing alone for what their contact, Eooran, promised would be a simple in-and-out mission. The prominent citizen, through an informal chat away from prying eyes, described the data disc he needed recovered from the old manufacturing sector of the moon station. Only very lightly guarded, apparently, but Roomt still took his time repairing the combat armour the crew had recently traded for.

Feeling distinctly frail as he stepped from the ship despite the oversized armour and weapons he’d borrowed from the others, the young technician felt reassured by the presence of R3D-80T humming alongside. This was, in theory, going to be a stealthy affair, but it wouldn’t hurt to have the support of a nasty-looking hyper blaster the bot said it had entirely legally acquired in exchange for a damaged shotgun.





Apparently the room they were headed for was guarded by some mercenary force or other, but Eooran assured the crew that the timing would ensure that sentry presence would be minimal. Best not make too much noise though, because this mercenary squad would be close enough to cause significant problems very quickly.



Naturally, Roomt’s foot almost immediately collided with a stray segment of pipe which trundled very noisily across the floor. Instinct told him to duck and roll, and in doing so just avoided the sputtering of gunfire. As the bullets ricocheted over his head he pressed his back to a doorframe, panting, not noticing a second sentry raising a flamer to his shoulder.



The wall protected the young lad from the worst of the flames but his sleeve caught light; in blind panic he flung himself about and rolled to put it out. The corridors echoed with the sound of weaponry and his shrieking, and eh cacophony was soon joined by the sound of heavy footprints as two more mercenaries approached the area.



R3D drew out its new hyper blaster and cooked the first sentry, gunning him down violently enough to send the second, fire-shooting sentry flying in terror. Roomt, having extinguished his sleeve and calmed himself down, crept towards their mission objective. Joyfully he spotted the data disk in plain view, shiny side up, on top of a console.



Roomt pocketed the disk about his less burnt side, wary of the sharp orders barking away on the other side of the wall. R3D approached to cover his retreat, hosing down another mercenary. When the enemy leader poked his head into the room and levelled his rifle Roomt scooted back, finger clamped over his trigger and spraying wildly. A plasma round clipped the lieutenant and downed him, and the rookie turned tail and fled for safety. R3D followed slowly behind, calmly blasting a third mercenary.



Back at the ship, Eooran was all smarm and flattery as he took the disk from the singed technician, and then turned to hand a sector permit to Captain Rumsoy. Always good to be friends with the right people, after all (+1 Story Point).

As news stories flashed on the bar telescreens of several disappearing business owners, Roomt nursed a bright alcopop. The ship’s medical facilities had taken care of his burnt arm well enough, but his eyes looked a little more haunted, a little less bright than they had been the last time he’d been here (+1 Toughness). Rumsoy’s offhand comments that fortune trumped skill echoed in his head (+1 Luck).

As he sat there, taking little sips, a shadowy figure snapped an image of the young fellow and transmitted it to an employer. The technician’s activities had not gone unnoticed (+1 Rival: Assassins).

A friend gifted me this fellow decades ago before either of us had hit our teenage years, and it recently resurfaced while I was rummaging through a dusty old box reclaimed from storage. Thought it could pass muster in the 15mm universe as some radiation side-effected adventurer. First 28mm-intended mini painted in years.

Looks great! There's something deeply satisfying about getting a miniature from one scale to work in another.

Da Red Gobbo works way better than I had ever thought as a fat 15mm supermutant. Nice!

Great work on the mini.  His "pistol" is a cannon that can bring down a vehicle.
