A Particular Horror Radio Drama Podcast- Thought you'd like
« on: March 11, 2010, 04:09:33 PM »
A slightly off-miniature subject with a Lovecraft feel.

I often listen to Lovecraft Audiobooks and have recently been enjoying Radio Horror drama similar to those of the Golden Years of Radio.

Anyway...I stumbled across a recent period Radiodrama regarding the tale of 3 lighthouses keepers who struggle to survive an uncanny threat from a deralict vessel.  It's called
"Three Skeleton Key" and has madness and a terrible menace.

Trust me..if you like this particular forum, it's right down your alley.

Here is a link...

Thanks, I'm a sucker for old time/style radio programs. "X-One" and "Lights Out Everybody". The latter had a real Lovecraft feel to many of its stories.

I keep a IPOD Nano in my car and listen to old time Horror Radio Dramas and Audiobooks by Lovecraft, MR James, Machen and any others in that vein.

I'm currently following the very lengthy Radio podcast of
"The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" which I highly recommend at
http://cthulhupodcast.blogspot.com/

Libravox.org has a number of Cthulhu Audio books as well...

Have you taken a look at the site below? They've got over 20,000 old broadcasts available! There are several free samples or for from $7.50 a month, you can download to your heart's content.  I'm slowly collecting The Shadow and The Whistler.  The biggest problem is storage.  It's not so bad if you just store them as data files but if you want to listen to them on a CD player, it doesn't take many to fill up a disc.

Thanks for the heads up.

Guys, XM Satellite radio has the "Radio Classics" Station.  Uninterprupted gold!

Besides some funny stufv (Jack Benny, etc)  they have all the old horror and pulp  (Shadow, Whistler, Johnny Dollar, Boston Blackie, Inner Sanctum, and tons of horror series, and Mercury Theatre and  full length horror shows)

best story I ever heard, narrated by Vincent Price, where he ends up finding uranium in the rin forest, and is in a river, attacked by piranna, electric eels, crocodiles, vampire bats, headhunters and a guy shooting at him from the bank, at the same time!

lol  It was like a Convention Pulp Game when is only 10 minutes left in the slot time, and the GM hurries upo and throws everything at you to end the scenario properly!  lol
Reigning USTA Florida, and National 50+ Singles Champion  (tennis)  TWO Time Florida 50+ Singles Champion!  Just won State 2019!

3 Skeleton Key....  Is that the one with Vincent Price?
Smokie -- I think that one is called Rivers of Blood from the show Escape...

If you guys want a cool one...  Try the show Murder at Midnight, the show is called The Kabbalah... Its a story about an occult professor who comes across a dying Arab who has a scroll which can tell the future...for a price of course...  Great story there!

Or The Shadow's story of The Gibbering Things...

I've got a newer CD player in my car that will take data disks.  I spend my time on long car trips listing to quite a bit of Old Time Radio.  They've come up quite a bit recently.  Came across references to them in the Blood 'N' Thunder guide to collecting the pulps, as well as some Doc Savage and Shadow reprints.
