Having taken the photo's i've seen quite a few areas to touch up so i'll be going back and doing those but on the whole i'm incredibly happy that i've managed to get these all painted. I've never been very good at completing modelling projects but it's been rather gratifying to get this one done so far.

The three battleships are scratchbuilt from plasticard, the guns and masts are from Brigade Models aeronef range. I've got a few ideas for more scratchbuilt ships, including a carrier, a Steam Air Sloop inspired by the 15mm version Vanvlak produced and other assorted small vessels to go with it.

I use a heavily modified set of Aeronef Rules.

That would be Wessex Games - Aeronef Rules. Very simplistic but a very rewarding set of rules, quick and easy to pick up and play and take very little teaching. There are more advanced rules in the Captains Handbook but even then it's pretty straight forward.

Very nice looking fleet you have Haarken.  For brits i only have the starter set though i recently picked up a fleet pack of Japanese from Brigade.

Yep Aeronef rules are simple, but you have the ability to modify and design your own ships which isn't in a lot of games.

Thanks for the reply. I initially bough the British-French Starter pack but have reinforced both sides. Looking forward to see your treatment of the Japanese, was admiring the wonderfully smooth painting on your British fleet only the other day. I think I may need to replace my white as it's getting very thick and even watering it down doesnt seem to produce a smooth result.

I agree the rules are very easily modified, i've been trialling the movement in inches modification and it really seems to help get everything into contact quicker.

Thanks the white on mine was built up i ahve to admit.  I started with a Valejo grey then added more white to it and i kept the layers really thin so that it gave an aged look.  It wasn't what i was planning but it came out better than i'd hoped so i won't complain about it.

For the Japanese i plan on dark grey and then a dark brown wood work, going to make them look as used as my brits as well.  Though i need to think on some idea's for a troop ship of some sort.
