Idols and Effigies
« on: 08 July 2010, 09:17:26 PM »
I was wondering if we could have a sticky thread with links to pictures of various idols, totems, effigies, statutes, monuments, gravestones, etc.

For instance, I recall that somebody produces a little idol that resembles the one in the opening scene of the first Indiana Jones movie, but I can't recall who makes it (although I know that Crocodile Games makes an excellent Ark of the Covenant).

I also thought that having a common reference point for all the various makers of Cthulhu-themed statuary might be a good idea.

I'll get the ball rolling by posting a link to the the Aegyptus Icons & Artifacts scetion on the Crocodile Games site (lots of good stuff there):

http://www.crocodilegames.com/secure/list_items.asp?CatID=24&SubID=38&pageHeading=Items%20-%20Miniatures%20-%20Aegyptus

Here's the specific link to the aforementioned Reliquary Ark:

Try http://www.castawayarts.com.au/catalog/catalog_main.php?cmd=groupload&group=17
at the bottom of the page for the ark and German soldiers to carry it.

Try http://shop.hydraminiatures.com/index.php?cPath=35 for a suarian idol holding skulls.

These are both for 28mm figs although I guess the idol could be for any scale, well maybe not.  www.recreationalconflict.com are now sculpting various sized tikis for lost worlds gaming.  They have some painted tikis (3 styles), not on the web site but available for $3 each, plus postage.
Hope this helps someone.
