I used to read White Dwarf back in the 80's. In those days it was fantastic. It had a wide range of articles and games for all kinds of role playing games, including Games which weren't produced by Games Workshop. It all changed though and not for the better. I haven't even looked beyond the cover ilustration of an issue of WD in ten years.
Incidently I still have the first issue of WD. From June/July 1977. Its pretty ad hoc, but always fun to look at. My favourite issues are from around issue 35-70. That seems to be when the balance between creativity and commercialism was at its best. After that it started to go down hill, getting less and less geared towards role playing and more and more commercial until it reached the point where it was essentially just a ridiculously expensive ad rag for GW.
I wonder what Ian Livingstone does these days. Any one know?
