May I add "vibrant" as a descriptive option. I don't think it would work on all kinds of figures, but on the ones seen so far, it's spot on.

Thanks!  Cartoonish, bold, and vibrant all fit for me.    It is a painting style that lends itself to fantasy figs - I honestly have no clue what I'd do if I tackled a WWII fig, but chances are it would look quite out of place.  This entry was my first real attempt at freehand checks (on the barding and the flag on the horn).  It took forever, but I'll be continuing to give it a go in the future.  Here's hoping some practice equates to speed!
