[Figure Search] Dancing Death
« on: July 30, 2010, 12:00:03 PM »
Hopefully the collective knowledge of the LAF will help me out on this once again:

I'm searching for 28mm Skeletons/Undead Corpses. An easy one, you might say. But I'm after very special miniatures, namely some that resemble the famous "deathdance" figures.
For example like these:

They should be in some kind of dancing movement, maybe clad in fancy (jester) robes or rotten cloth or playing instruments. A figure with an hour glass would be greatest, like Khurasan's Renaissance Death (unfortunately in 15mm):

I've already checked Games Workshop's and Mantic's current Undead ranges as possible sources for 'scratchbuilding'. But they seem to be both too heavily armoured and/or too static for a rebuild.
So, any suggestions are highly appreciated! :)

Mad Doc - Within GW's current range, check the Tomb Kings skeletons - unlike the Vampire Counts versions, these are mostly naked, with the headgear, shields etc as add-ons, and since they are plastic, they are easy to convert.

In metal, eBob sells skeletons as sculpting dollies.
Back from the dead, almost.

I have Corvus Belli's Mors Venit which is similar and very nice. Eureka has a "naked", unarmed metal skeleton and so does eBob.

Many thanks, guys, for the input! Always reliable. 8)
Never thought about eBob, but yes, that's the best bet currently.
Unfortunately, GW doesn't show the sprues, so I'm still wondering, if there are enough 'bare' skeletons in the Khemri range, and if they are more versatile than the Undead ones.
Death himself is a great sculpt, but he's a bit too cartoonish for my purpose. He seems also to be a bit on the taller side of 28mm.
The Mors Venit figure has a nice touch, if anyone can provide another shot (maybe unpainted), I would be interested. The same goes for the Eureka skeletons; sadly the picture provided isn't convincing.

If there's more, keep it coming. Otherwise, thanks once again for your service! :)

It's a shame how the only skeleton musician figures you can find are drummers and horn blowers. Skeletons playing violins and lutes would be awesome.

Or... accordion? =)

Unfortunately, that's 7" tall. :(

Skeleton accordion players! If someone made them in 28mm I'd definitely want them.
