Loved that show when I was a kid.
Are you going to build the Liberator ship?

Yep, out of toothpaste lids and a marble.
Don't!

Servalan was a friend of my neighbour when I was a kid. She used to come and visit. Those gasmask blokes never came with her, though.

You mean, there was actually more than one?

The one they showed on Danish television back in the 80's was the one starting with Blake suffering from amnesia, some freedom fighters then convince him that he is in fact the leader of the rebels, they flee, and somehow find this alien spaceship, that, after some time, suddenly tell them that it is going to self-destruct, and then does.... boom, end of story.

I was convinced that this was because the show did not have a large enough audience, and that it was just a way to terminate the show for good.

I think the series was actually called 'Terminate Blake's 7', come to think of it....

EDIT: Or 'Eliminate...'

weird... almost sounds like the first episode of series 1 when they find the Liberator abandoned in space... but the ship exploding is the end of series 3 as has been said...

there were 4 series all told... the end:

Oh Boy. I need me some miniatures now.

I showed the last episode of Blake's 7 to my best friend years ago, and he wouldn't talk to me for a week. This was after getting him hooked on the show with some of the best episodes from forth season. Oops, I meant series. He talks to me now, and Blake's 7 is one of his favorite television shows.

At the end of series 1, the Liberator crew see a supposedly infallible prediction in which what appears to be the Liberator blows up (it's a cheat).  At the end of series 2, the Liberator is shot up by vast numbers of spaceships from Andromeda (it recovers).  At the end of series 3, the Liberator gets destroyed for real.  At the end of series 4, just before all our heroes are shot down, their replacement spaceship, the Scorpio is destroyed.

Small wonder that Terry Wogan started a "Buy a spaceship for Blakes 7" appeal (but I had already given all I had to "Buy a brick for Petrocelli").
Back from the dead, almost.

was it series 2 that was supposed to end with a Dalek invasion fleet?

That was the rumour.  As it was, the Andromedan fleet required so many models that this was the occasion when the BBC famously resorted to sticking two hairdryers together for one of them.  Though, to tell the truth, I've never understood why they didn't just build one spaceship and make a mould.
