Ironclad Tripod
« on: 25 September 2010, 09:08:07 AM »
I'm not sure why I want to do this, or even what I'd be able to use it for, but does anyone know where I'd be able to find compatible plastic parts for making the Warmachine Ironclad model into a tripod?

Do you just want it to have three legs or are you looking to make it taller etc?
So many projects..... so little time.......

Difficult to imagine anything other than the legs it's got, and taking three models to make two tripods is a) tricky but not impossible for adepts unlike myself, but b) painfully dear.  :o

I can imagine the third torso put on boxy tank conveyance, or even one of my He-man mechanical horses, centaur-like.

At that point, I should think it'd more a case of replacing the 'groin' unit and feet for the 'pods.

Sorry, mind is wandering again...

I'm not really sure how the Cygnar 'Jacks go together, but most of my Khador ones have a simple pin that connects the legs and torso. A piece of plastic tubing like a lollypop stick would be about the right size for such a join. Then the legs are up to you, D&D minis have some odd clockworky stuff?

Not sure if this was in reply to me, but I'm thinking now I was unclear, how unlike me, *cough cough*, as to my meaning.

As for the actually conversion, I'd think it'd be fairly straight forward as you say. My "Difficult to imagine anything other than the legs it's got," was an aesthetic reference, as the legs match the rest so well visually. The seams and rivets and armor facings just 'fit'. And, so far, I've not seen anything near.

In fact, I'd have to say that, if you want larger, longer legs, and I know I would, you'd almost want extra pairs to connect/convert.

But, that's just crazy talk.

Now, I'm not saying it'd stand the weight, but if you had a BK Wild Wild West spider, it's body would give good translation between the heavy torso and the spindly legs.

Sorry, otherwise, I'm tapped.

You could just buy a set of legs and retrofit it.

OHMYGOSH, is that fortuitous or what! It's not Ironclad, but I assume about as close stylistically as I can imagine, and adopt and adapt!

Well played, sirrah!  8)

Glad to help. They're the new Ironclad legs. The only difference between the Cyclone and the Ironclad are the weapon fits and the head.
