The Return of the Son of The Mummy - Battle Report
« on: 29 October 2011, 08:32:13 PM »

As some of you may be aware Revford is bringing 'The Return of the Son of the Mummy' to BLAM this year and here's a battle report of one of our playtests.

So lets meet the brave adventurers, who seek are searching the sand for the loot to bring about their plan for victory...

The Madjai, who seek to stop Prince Karis being raised and being a plague upon the world once more approach the tomb cautiously.

The Brotherhood (Who Think Fezs Are Cool), who seek to raise the Mummy and impose Egyptian headgear upon the world, begin their bold advance towards the tomb.

The Mummys defending the Tomb of Prince Karis, who seek nothing but the blood of those who would disturb the silence of the sands...

The Americans, who seek gold and glory and know not what they are messing with charging toward towards a mummy and emptying their their weapons.

The Brotherhood's rapid advance, come to an equally abrupt halt after they engage a brace of Mummys in hand to hand.

Wounded by the Americans, the Mummy undeterred wants to get closer to Dick and Ellie.

The Madjai, having attracted the attention of one of the Mummys with their rifle fire by wounding it, prepare to finish it off before it charges them.

The Brotherhood fighting the Mummys manage to fend them off momentarily, but now aware of how strong the Mummys are are not so sure they want to re-enage in hand to hand.

A quick overview of the battle so far...

The Americans having reloaded their weapons, fall back in fear from the Mummy.

But Mummy doesn't want to let them go...

The Madjai, continue their approach towards the tomb and draw aim upon another of the tomb's defenders.

The Americans spooked by the Mummy, open fire indiscriminately towards it. Once again emptying their weapons, but this time hitting only sand due to their shaky aim.

Unfortunately the Brotherhood were slower than the undead, the only reward for this being death for of one of the Fezmen.

Out of ammo, but hoping that they are not out of luck Dick and Ellie decide to attack the Mummy from both sides.

Alone, Achmed decides discretion is the better part of valour and backs off hastily...

...as the Mummys pursue him relentlessly...

The Madjai take aim and prepare to drop one of the minions of Prince Karis.

Turn 3, Dick and Ellie remain locked in combat with a Mummy. The Madjai having wounded a Mummy are reloading their weapons before preparing continue firing upon the Mummy and Achmed crying for his mummy as she is much nicer than the two Mummys before him.

With the Mummys closing Achmed raises his pistol and sets about bring the odds back into his favour.

The combined efforts of Dick and Ellie as the Mummy goes down and crumbles into dust upon the sand.

A Mummy angered by the shots of the Madjai, prepares to show it's wrath.

Seeing the Mummy guarding the entrance to the tomb going after the Madjai, Dick runs towards the door believing it to be unguarded, whilst Ellie searches amidst the sand.

Surprise! Dick.

A suprised Dick shoots his load and the Mummy goes down.

The Madjai with the Mummy so close abandon their rifles and bring it down in close combat.

An opportunistic Ellie, seeing the Madjai draws her pistol and attempts to reduce the number of looters.

After dropping to ground Basil gets back up and prepares to return the favour.

Ellie flees into the tomb, as the Madjai approach the entrance.

Achmed having wounded the remaining Mummy, runs out of places to run and utters a quick prayer as the final Mummy rushes him...

...And his prayer, plus a couple of well placed shots from his pistol do the trick.

Inside the tomb, Dick gets down to the important work of looting.

Before being joined by Ellie in the search for treasure.

Treasure found Dick heads for the exit, only to find the waiting Madjai.

However the waiting Madjai, had found themselves a Mummy to keep them entertained as it rose up from the sand to attack Addam.

Figuring that the enemy of his enemy, was still his enemy unloaded his pistol to the figures fighting before him...

Before wading into the fight himself...

Achmed, having dealt with the Mummys threatening him, approaches the corner of the pyramid cautiously having heard the sounds of gunfire and combat and quietly draws his pistol...

..but eagled-eyed Boris seeing movement at the corner of the pyramid places a careful shot through the swirling melee and hits Achmed right in the fez - A wound no true Fezman can survive.

Addam takes an opportunity to withdraw from the combat leaving Mummy and Dick to their own devices.

Dick manages to fight off the unwelcoming embrace of the Mummy and gets a moment to gather himself.

But the Mummy is rather fond of Dick and doesn't want to let Dick go.

Alone in the tomb, searching for treasure Ellie forgotten by everyone awakens another of the tomb's guardians.

The Madjai decide to fall back and let the Mummy deal with Dick. (Whilst in the background the sinister Germans watch the battle, as we only had three players for this game).

Dick having escaped it's grasp, the Mummy goes after the Madjai only to be set alight by Boris.

Taking cover in the tomb, Dick finds Ellie under threat from a Mummy.

Managing to fight off the Mummy, Ellie gets to her feet whilst Dick wounds the Mummy with a well placed shot.

Seeing the Mummy wounded Ellie and Dick close in to finish off the Mummy.

Whilst the Madjai wait outside for the American despoilers to reveal themselves.

Inside the tomb Ellie and Dick finally put the mummy to rest.

Before braving the rifle fire of the Madjai and preparing to escape the tomb.

Returning fire Dick forces one of the Madjai to duck for cover amidst the sand dunes.

Using statues for cover Dick approaches the Madjai guarding the ritual altar.

With Dick hiding behind a statue, the Madjai kill Ellie who had stopped noticing the golden hilt of a dagger protruding from the ground.

Taking advantage of the Madjai's inattention, jumps up from the cover of his statue and in a hail of bullets kills both Addam and Boris...

Leaving the American looters unapposed and victorious in their despoiling of the tomb.

Great looking game.  May I ask, who makes the obelisk?  Thanks for posting.  I really enjoyed it.  Richard

The Obelisk, starting point in the game for the Medjai, is a plaster cast from Hirst Arts Egyptian Temple Accessory Mold #98.

http://www.hirstarts.com/molds/moldsegypt.html

Most of the scenery in this games comes from those molds.

Really cool game,
love every thing about it.
Very good story, too bad Ellie was killed.
Will the adventure continue with Dick?

Well, I'm sure Dick will attempt to raise Ellie from the dead, with disastrous consequences.  :)

Marvelous AAR!  :o

Preety minis, evocative scenery and a very fresh writing style.

May I ask what rules are you playing with?

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

The rules are the sordid love child of Legends of the Old West and .45 Adventure, with weapon stats borrowed from V for Victory, a LotOW variant for AVBCW published in WSS magazine.  It sounds like a mess but it's worked well for Zombies, Daleks and now Mummies for us.
