My British Threshold Agents
« on: 29 October 2010, 03:51:33 AM »
I finally finished off my agents (except for basing them that is). All are Artizan figures.

The one in the middle is the main character.

The one on the left is being groomed as a spell caster, and the one on the right is for a bit of fire power.

I also have a British Policeman to paint up for a bit of fodder.

The photos doesn't show the shading and highlighting too well, especially on the grey suit on the one on the left.

Nicely painted, some times it's hard to show shadows and highlights, think it really depends on your style of painting,  and looking at the picture they seem to have a gloss coat of varnish on the them, the shine might be masking the shadow and highlights from the camera.
I have some Musketeers Miniatures  From there IRA range to paint up as a British special force, much similar to your  sand colour Macintosh coat and am going with black suits but they are wearing flat caps, only thing wrong with  Musketeers Miniatures  is that most miniatures have leather bandoleers  for there ammunition, on a side note they have just brought out a workers Militia Vickers HMG & 3 crew  these are civilians manning the gun might need a head swoop as one wares a helmet but other wise would fit in with a British special force.

Would you believe it is actually a matt varnish that I used. It is a bit shiny, so I would hate to see what the gloss would be like.

Most matt varnish have a shine on them, there are makes out there that give a dull coat, dull cote is one of them, if you have a airbrush then try a matt acrylic varnish mixed 50x50 with water and use lightly.
Here is a link to this forum on matt varnish.

This agent was varnished with gloss then  acrylic varnish mixed 50x50 with water in a air brush.

Yeah like jnr said most acrylic matt is actually satin. Best one I've come across is revell aquacolour matt. For a proper matt you'd have to use an oil based varnish.

Nice figures too, they really evoke the period with the colours you've painted them. The guy in the middle is on my wanted list too..

I will post a photo of them in action once I get the chance.

The Artizan British Bobbies will make a good edition to your set up, if you play V.U.C they would fit in will with the Agents as a Alert Authorities task force.
The bobbies range cover pistols and rifles and the truncheon, no shotguns but the rifles could past for one.

Nice work. You will want to use dullcoat on them to reduce the shine. But, practice on some thing you don't need first to you can lean how to give the models a very light coat.
