New figures for RCW
« on: 27 May 2011, 12:19:27 PM »
Some new series have been commissioned and will be sold through Studio Siberia.

Advancing West Ukrainian infantry 1919-1920, 10 infantrymen, 4 officers, trumpeter and colour-bearer plus an advancing light machine-gun team.

Also two more civil series have been commissioned, ”Assault on the Manor” and ”Revolting Revolutionaries”, taking place somewhere in Ukraine-Russia 1919-1920.
In Ukraine the Polish Army ran into trouble, when it tried to intervene on behalf of the land-owners.
The first series will be the defenders of the manor.

Also a sculptor for Poles 1918-1920 has been found.
He will start on Polish infantry advancing.

All military figures will have loose heads and there will be made strips with heads for head swaps.

More detailed information on the series will in a few days be put up on the site of Studio Siberia.

Interested are very welcome to comment, upload useful pictures and come with suggestions for more figures.

It is the intention – if the interest is for it – to expand the series into something like the famous ”Darkest Africa”.
Only it will take place in Russia, Siberia, Ukraine, Poland – everywhere with unrest and fighting 1918-1921. And certainly that means a vast area and many countries.

The first figures are expected to be ready for sale in about 3 months, as it is an astounding slow business to produce figures of quality.

Yay! The current RCW miniature market is desperately short of Ukrainian troops. Here's hoping there are a few with Skoropadsky-era zhupans.

What scale will this range be exactly? So far Studio Siberia's RCW range has all been 28mm so I'm going to assume the trend will continue.

It will be 28mm, and the size of Hicks figures will be used as standard.
The figures from West Ukraine will not have zhupans, I guess, but a mix of different forms of caps, as can be seen on contemporary pictures.
Later will come some of the more national uniforms.

This sounds very promising and I love the seperate heads idea. Your 10 basic infantrymen suddenly become masses of individuals with their various headgear and slightly different poses of the heads.

The sources for the figures will be first of all

which deals alone with the West-Ukraine.

Also will be used

in

can only be found a little on the subject, but in English.

Here are some pictures

Perhaps not the most colourful uniforms, but very versatile types with diffent heads.

The West-Ukrainians really came around.
First they fought against the Poles, then they fought together with Denikin, switched to the Red Army and ending with fighting together with the Poles against the Red Army, ending up fighting alone against The Red Army - and loose.
