First 3 converted and weathered AT-43 Red Block Walker
« on: 19 March 2011, 09:07:32 PM »
Hello,

Some times ago I purchased a lot of AT-43 Red Block Walkers from Rackham. Lately I converted and weathered three of the smaller ones as test models.

The painting and choosen colors are quite good for prepainted models. I wanted to see what I could do with only some smaller conversions and some serious weathering.

This is a picture of the models as they came from the box:

I intended to equip the walkers with two of the HMGs. So I built a mold and cast some in resin.

The new bases are metal waschers with sand, little stones and rubble made from plaster glued on top.

I painted the new parts in the ground colors. Then I did some heavy weathering, mostly with oil colors and dry pigments. The bases were painted and drybrushed with acrylic colors to match my East Block Infantry http://www.elladan.de/042%20East%20Block%20Future%20Warrors/042.htm.

Here comes pictures of the painted models:

The first finished model:

The second finished model, the squad leader:

The third finished model:

And finally a groupshoot:

I hope you like them. I am converting some of the bigger Walkers at the moment and hope to show the results in a few days or weeks.

Ciao

Looks great! I particularly like the way you've positioned the left foot of the squad leader. I'm quite inspired to do some extra work on my own Red Blok army after seeing this and some other examples.

No, they're made of plastic.
