15mm Samurai terrain (I've also got my mojo back!)
« on: 17 July 2011, 07:11:16 PM »
I'm carrying on with a big 15mm samurai terrain commission at the moment and have a far bit to show, some of it here most of the rest on my blog  :)

There has also been some work done on the resin yamashiro masters which is also here and on the blog

http://jimbibblyblog.blogspot.com/

A small part of the collection

A couple of river sections still needing a few coats of varnish

A stepped hill

Yamashiro gateway

Any comments appreciated, thanks for looking  :)

cheers

Looks great! Is the gate resin or scratchbuild?

Thank you  :)

The gate is a master waiting to be put in the mould for casting.

Looks great already! How do you actually cast these marvelous buildings, could use some advice from a pro on materials and techniques!

Thank you kindly chaps  :)

@ Belgian - The gatehouse is in three main sections, with the block house on top being separate from the two wall sections. These will all get put into separate mould boxes and the silicon gets poured in. I don't have a vacuum chamber but I've been doing it long enough I can get away without one. As for pouring the resin, as long as you take your time ( I also pick out the bubbles with a tooth pick) it isn't a problem.

I don't have the room for a vac chamber at home and unfortunately our boss at work won't spring for one (tight fisted old git who needs to retire  >:( ), but having learnt the process at work with the most basic equipment has put me in good stead for home casting.

I also spend some time after the cast has come out cleaning them up (not a lot of work to do actually) and it does make a difference.

cheers

James
