Is this a popular genre Alex? It seems cannibals can have a dark history.

Just watched a film based on a true story called 'Van Diemens Land.'

A short summary without spoilers taken from feedback:

Van Diemens Land tells the true story of the escape of seven convicts from the Macquairie Harbour Penal Colony based on Sarah Island in 1822. It is the most notorious tale from the colonial era of what is now Tasmania. In the film eight convicts escape whilst chopping wood. They are a desparate and desperate bunch, with the only common tie being that of criminality.

"They are English, Scottish and Irish, the latter doing a lot of their communicating in Gaelic (sub titled). The film has been called `lyrically paced' in that is can appear slow. It is also a `thriller' and so the two monikers sit uneasily side by side, but both are true. The thriller part is a bit of a stretch though as everyone knows that after they escaped they were totally inept at living off the land. They could neither hunt nor forage and soon turned to the `custom of the sea', as they were being led by `Captain' Greenhill, he was thus able to explain.

They had taken two axes with them in their escape and these now became the method of despatch for who ever was chosen to be on the menu, unlike the sea custom, no lots were drawn - this is the main vehicle for ramping up the tension."

I noticed there were no Swedes involved in this plot! :-)

Cheeers,

Helen
Best wishes,

Not my genre, so my opinion is unimportant :D

But I will be looking forward seeing the release of war priests and the landsknechts - and expect an order right after Christmas.

But will save most of them for Treasure Island, though? ;)

Maybe you should watch some of the horror movies made in france in the last year (high tension, frontier(s), Mutants). Sometimes I thing the french guys try to get horror to a harder way. And also the miniatures from french scultors are very special. A lot of SM-Style and Splatter-Style.
I thing it is a little like the remake of "texas chainsaw massaker", diferent to the postapo from ratnik. I like both styles and they are great for a lot of projects and ideas.

I would normally agree except that one of the figures reminds me of Sloth from 'The Goonies'.

They look good though, can't fault the sculpting, though I'm not keen on the two figures in the ragged lycra shorts. Otherwise I like them.
