The African Wars by Chris Peers has a chapter on the Matabeles, thier migration and some details about a few battles with Europeans.  It also touches on thier fighting style and dress.  Hope this helps.

Just got another email from WHSmith saying that now they can't send me the Central African book either!  Grrr. Great timing folks, now the Foundry sale has ended. :(
