Colonial Marine [PICS]
« on: 14 February 2012, 08:36:56 PM »
For a miniature exchange on a Dutch forum I painted a colonial marine, PAIN MAN.

I simplified the colour scheme a bit and I must say I think it works rather well. I can see myself painting more of these in these colours. To turn the model into a bit more of a diorama, and to lnk the model to the Aliens movie I added an egg, inspired by this fabulous vignette by NAVARRO on Frothers:

http://frothersunite.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=37273

To add some display feeling I added a small dome with the text "stand back it's moving" crudely written on the damp wall (of the dome). Because all Alien fans know what happens next our unlucky Pain Man got the numer 13 on his back.

I hope you like him, I'm rather pleased myself and the recipient was very happy with it as well.
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins

The dome thing is just great, it really looks like condensation! Great work in capturing that effect!

Thanks all! I'm really pleased with the way he turned out and I think I will be doing more. But first I have to focus on some other projects 8)

Maybe I can sneak in a team in the LPL though 8)

now that's bloody clever! Inspired composition and an excellent paint-up (loving the camo!). This is nit-picking I know but a slightly different shade for the binocs and 'webbing/ammo packs' on the next one maybe. Looking forward to seeing more of these.

If I do more of these I'll likely speed up the process a bit more (rather than less) so I'm keeping the same shade on the webbing. That said, it might look better indeed so maybe I'll give it a shot, I don't know yet 8)
