Duryée's Zouaves
« on: 19 March 2012, 07:18:38 PM »
I'm relatively new here so here's my first real contribution (perhaps some of you have seen these on the Steve Dean forum)

They are plastic Perry Miniatures ACW zouaves. I have dipped them with army painter Dark Tone.

Ahh, another one of those pretty units (like Wheat's Tigers) that probably only looked this unique for a short while before the ended up with more regular uniforms. Cool unit.

Actually the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry Regt. (Duryee's Zouaves) kept its Zouave dress intact until they were disbanded in 1863. They won a fine reputation as a hard fighting unit, known by the rebs as the Red Devils. Nice job, can't believe that is dip at work.

Well done.
The dip really makes them stand out.
Hope to see more of your painting.
I see that the figures are based as singles,
what rules are you using?

Many zouave units wore their uniforms throughout the war.

cheers  :D

Yeah I used to base all my figs on individual bases. I play Brother against Brother now and then which is a skirmish rules set. But I think I have about 250 individually based figures and that is more than I will ever need for that system  ;D So now I base my figs on regiment bases
