Isn't there a Thomas the Tank steam tractor/engine?
Cheers,

Yes, Trevor the Traction Engine!

Don't know if there is a toy version that would suit 28mm figures, though.

There are actually two versions of the Thomas toys. The wooden ones are expensive, possibly carved from pawlonia or sandalwood given the price. These  have wonky proportions.

The metal "Take-Along Thomas" trains are closer in proportion to their show counterparts, but they're smallish for 28mm. They're also cheaper, made of Chinaluminum alloys. This of course raises the issue of how sensitive you are about this sort of thing. For something as specialized as a sisal traction engine, I'd hold my nose and bear it.

If you're removing the face from a metal one, be advised that the face is glued to the smokestack and firebox front by unholy glues, and you're as likely to shear off the rivet holding the whole thing to the toy as you are to snap off the face. Sawing or sanding will be required.

A quick Google later:

Hmm. Not for me, really. I kind of want one just as a scenery piece, but I think I'll look to other quarters rather than using Trevor. I suppose a good paint-job could do wonders, but I'm just not seeing it.

(I think I'm like one of those stupid house-buyers that can't see past the present owners' tat and hideous taste in decor when viewing a house in this respect.  :) )

That's the wonky wooden one. The other one isn't quite so bad.
