Temple of Nodens
« on: 27 May 2012, 04:01:20 PM »
Although I read the Cthulhu board here on LAF almost daily, I rarely post, but this might interest you fellows. I ventured deep into Ramsey Campbell country today to Lydney Park in the Severn Valley where there is a rather nice garden but also the ruins of a fourth century Roman temple dedicated to the god Nodens!! It was excavated by Wheeler in the late 1920's with Tolkien lending a hand too. The whole setting is ideal for a scenario for CofC or Strange Aeons.

Here are a few pics of the ruins , not the best but I was trying to keep an eye on my 3 kids at the time  o_o

You can see the River Severn in the background in 2 of the shots and beyond that lies Goatswood... :o

I'm sure there's a statuette that can summon nightgaunts buried in there somewhere.  :D

Goatswood alone starts to bring things to mind !
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!"
"The weed of crime bears bitter fruit. Crime does not pay.... The Shadow knows!"
