Help with creating Piquet game for Battle of Pisagua 1879 Amphibious landing..?

I am seeking to game an amphibious landing by Chile at The Battle of Pisagua during The Pacific War 1879-88, I would like to use a Piquet variant set of rules Field Of Battle with every four stands (1 unit) representing 100 men, I would welcome some advice on how to translate the battle maps into reality as well as any other suggestion; for those not aware of this battle I have put a couple of Wiki links;
