French Armament in the Crimea

Hi,

I'm sure this is an easily answered question...but I can't find a reliable source.

Can anyone tell me what the standard French armament was in the Crimea? Did they use smoothbore or rifled muskets and were there variations for Turcos, Zouaves, Chassuers etc

Hello!

Turco, line and light infantry had smooth bore muskets (1822T,  1842 and 1853)
chasseurs à pieds, guards (zouaves, chasseurs , voltigeurs and grenadiers) had riffled musket (carabines 1843/46 or guard musket 1854 )

during the conflict, some units of zouaves were equiped with riffled "carabines" to be mixed with "chasseurs à pieds" for a kind of "trench raiders" type units ; but it is very unsignificient in a wargame's rule!

the smooth bore muskets were rifled from 1857 .
