Vendel Goblins - Now with Wolves!
« on: 22 August 2012, 07:21:15 PM »
I was looking for something simple to paint as a break from foundry mercenary ogres and 10mm bits and I pulled these out of the lead mountain.

I copied the colour scheme straight from the old WI advert - I'm really pleased with it. Sadly it does mean instead of clearing some models out, I'll end up ordering more and making a small force for SBH or LoTR SBG!

I decided I'd paint up some wolves and wolf riders I found in the same bag.

Very nice indeed.  I've always had a softy spot for the Vendel fantasy range.

The Lads are BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. While, to moi, they look more like Hobbits than Goblin, they are cool Little Guys nonetheless. VERY WELL DONE!

Nice work, I like to see goblins that are different from the GW/World of Warcraft look.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

What he said. Vendel had a take on Tolkien inspired by the classic imagery, which I quite like despite my great appreciation for Peter Jackson's adaptation. Too bad the Vendel figures have been sold overseas, makes them too pricey for me. :'(

Anyway, love to see them well painted. Looking forward to your progress. :)

Always liked these figures. The best of Vendel's ranges as far as I'm concerned. The sculpting style suits the subject matter.  :)

Fantastic bit of painting - I hardly recognised the figures (in a good way) due to the great paint job.

It is nice to see gobbos painted up non-green for a change. I agree with the posters above and would like to see that GW green-skins thing knocked into touch. I have always toyed with buying a few minis for a warband from Vendel but as Mad Doc mentioned above, now that they have moved overseas, the additional postage rates take them beyond my meagre pockets. Darn.
