Winchcombeshire - any maps?

Hello,

   recently seen a reference to a  pre 1066 English county, called Winchcombeshire (now west Gloucestershire  Cotswold Hills area) which existed in King Cnuts reign.

  Anyone know what it looked like/ map ?

Hi Ken,

I live not too far away from the "Winch".

I have an OS map dating back to the 1920's which shows many of the surrounding historic buildings and structures, but no actual maps of the original "Shire".

There are a number of interesting places around the town, including the former Priory, Sudley Castle and Belas Knapp long barrow. The town itself has a number of historic buildings, including half timbered structures.







It's well worth a visit.

Another me too. Not to far from Wincelcumb as my '66 OS map shows it. There is reference to a book in the wiki entry for Winchcombeshire, that might be a good place to look.
