Trollforged goblins
« on: 09 September 2012, 10:03:05 PM »
Hi everyone. I've been lurking for some time, but this is my first post. I've recently returned to the hobby, and I'm trying to get more involved with my fellow gamers, painters and model-makers.

Part of this effort is my fledgling blog, where I recently posted a review of the Trollforged "Trollcast" goblin halberdiers. If anyone is interested, you can check it out here:

Comments are welcome, and thanks for looking.

WELCOME to the Forum, toadloard! That is a FINE way of introducing yourself. The Goblin Halberdiers look WONDERFUL; i.e., GREAT brushwork on some VERY COOL minis...of course, there's nothing quite so cool as a cool Goblin. VERY WELL DONE!
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

Welcome aboard, toadlord!

It is a rather good way to introduce yourself, with some lovely looking Gobbo's.
Never seen those little fellas before.
Very nice indeed!

Welcome toadlord!

Great timing to de-lurk with this thread: 10 of these Troll Forged goblins arrived in my mail today. They're great characterful little fellas. The Trollcast spin plastic is sturdy, has good detail, and looks like it will take paint well.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

tomogui: I'm interested to hear how you do with the goblins. One thing I forgot to mention in my review is the trouble I had priming these guys. Your comment about them looking like they'll take paint well reminded me. I usually prime with gesso, but even after a thorough wash in soapy water the gesso just beaded up on the figures, like they were still covered in mold release. Fortunately, the next day weather was agreeable for spray priming, so they got a coat of grey Krylon which worked perfectly.

Welcome aboard!

Excellent review, exactly as I feel.  I have 2 dozen sitting on the table ready to get paint slapped.

I'm sure to purchase more, I just love 'em!   Now... where is a David Bowie miniature when you need one?

I only painted one of mine, just to see how they went:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=43647.0

I was interested to see how they would work alongside the old Rackham Confron Goblins.

I had no problem painting him, didn't wash it or use any undercoat/primer, acrylic paint went on perfectly.
I think these are great little models and I would love to see some more done.

They certainly have oodles of character and look simply great ranked up like that.  Your notes about the resin-plastic whatever-it-is are interesting as this is the material Red Box Games will be using...
