Cheetors Skeleton Robots
« on: 22 November 2012, 01:13:03 PM »
I always seem to get into a painting slump in late summer/autumn.  This year I decided to tackle a simple project to try to get back on the horse.  The project that I figured might make a high turnover palette cleanser was a little bit Terminator, a little bit Necron and a little bit Robocop.

The paint jobs are quick with the aim being the accumulation a medium sized horde of b-movie robot skeletons, rather than individual works of art.  The plan is to get about forty models done for the project if I can keep enthusiasm up.

The miniature selection is a little eclectic, but that keeps my enthusiasm up when painting so I enjoy it.  I am a believer in the unifying effect of a strictly limited palette to tie things together anyway.

Opinion on the various models used so far has been divided.  Feel free to let me know what you guys think :)

More details on my blog for any interested.

Thanks for looking.

Think you've done a great job of bringing them all together. It's odd but I enjoy bringing together figures from different sources and unifying them thematically for a game.

Really love all these. I think I'd stick one type and modify some to get variation but thats just me. Like the paint scheme it does tie them together nicely

I really like the eclectic unity of them. They look like a band of sapce wandering pirate robot renegades, any other robot they find is stripped down, and refitted and joins the band.
Nice work,
Duncan

Thanks for all of the feedback folks :)

I have a number of other bits and pieces related to these guys in various WIP stages.  I hope to get some more finished up and photographed soon.

Commander Vyper is correct, they are Reaper Chronoscope "Cyber Reavers".  They are titchy little guys, the only figures that I have painted so far that look like they might actually pass for a 28mm human of they were covered in 28mm flesh.  Some (kinda dodgy) comparison shots:

Nice mate. Bit shiney for me but nice unification.

Thanks.  These guys are definitely more chrome than your gunmetal terminators CV, but theres plenty of room for both interpretations I think.  Actually I considered adding a blue sheen to the lot of them initially, to make them look a little more like a Stan Winston endo puppet, but decided to take the KISS approach instead.  Getting some turnover was the main goal and fluting around with different sheens could have got me bogged down.

Anything with Space Crusade dreadnoughts and Chaos Androids gets a thumbs up from me! I love how the big-shoulders Necron seems to pull the group together and look like their leader.
