Cavern Crawl 2.8 Unleashed + Batrep

CAVERN Crawl 2.8* - definitely the final revision prior to 'proper' publication - is out now and available for download. If you already have some affinity with 2.5, then this latest incarnation shouldn't come as too great a shock: it's the same basic system, just fine-tuned for a smoother ride! CC2.8 represents the system pretty-much in it's finished state. Of course there're probably still some typos and garbled explanations, but they should (hopefully) be scarce and will be dealt with before the final edition surfaces. Likewise the layout is far from finished and there are aspects that certainly need to be dealt with prior to an official release. Still, it is serviceable for the time being. Here is the link:

Kicking in the first door catches a trio of Orcish guards, erm, off-guard. Without hesitation the gang wade in and start redecorating the chamber with Orc's guts. Debs vaporises an unfortunate greenskin with a successful casting of Wrath of Taranis.



Returning to the scene of their struggle with the Goblin archers the quartet try an unopened door and disturb an unwelcome party. Four Orcs and a Cave Troll fill the space between a yawning chasm and the entrance. Undeterred, the heroes charge.



Crossing the chasm proves easy for Nigel and Debbie (who casts Teleport on herself); even Jakkov makes it across unscathed. Poor Ser Gareth rolls a 1 and plummets into the abyss. Fortunately Nigel possesses a rope and is able to haul the wounded knight up from the inky depths.

Your game looks really interesting, do you plan to add a solo mode in the future ?  ???

As always; I'll download, print and read the rules - but not get around to have an actual game in the foreseeable future. =( You have my support in spirit though! =D

How did u go about stating up the owl bear and gargoyles?

I have no immediate plans for this, but several players have expressed their interest in a 'solo mode' and I believe a couple of guys might already be working on something along these lines. Alongside 2.8 I have launched a dedicated CC forum in the hope that crawlers will share such house rules and mods.

Thanks! CoC is still under development, but should out towards the end of the year. It will essentially be a free bolt-on to the existing CC rules for skirmishes between 'companies' in a campaign setting. For the Owlbear I simply used the Cave Bear stats and I rather lazily made up the Gargoyle 'on-the-fly'. TBH there is plenty of scope for expanding the bestiary section! Echoing my previous reply, it'd be cool if players used the CC forum to float ideas for new monsters etcetera.

If you heard about a solo mode, please keep me informed (pm or this topic) and I'll suscribe your forum to beta test it. I've got plenty of painted minis, and custom 3d tiles too, so I guess I'm ready.  lol

That's strange: I thought downloading from mediafire didn't require membership, as long as you had the correct url. Is anybody else having this problem?

Ahh, sorry, just tried again and it's me being totally inept! Well now I'm printing it and hopefully will get to test it this weekend.
